(this is a small portion size as we have this as a side with a protein e.g. our K.F.C.* Chicken)
Ingredients
-
200g Halloumi / Grilling Cheese
-
If frying: 250g Lard / Cooking Coconut Oil (lots of this will be leftover)
Directions
Cut the halloumi into chips. Don't make them too thin.
Dry the halloumi on some kitchen towel.
If frying:
Heat the oil gradually over a medium heat in a saucepan. The oil needs to be hot but not smoking before you use it. To test the oil is hot enough, dip the end of one of the fries in the oil. It should sizzle around the cheese.
Carefully place a couple of the fries in the oil. Don't add them all at the same time as this can cause the oil to bubble over. After a few seconds, add the next couple. The fries will only take 20-30 seconds to turn golden brown. As you add more fries to the oil, you may need to increase the heat slightly.
Remove the fries and place them on some kitchen towel to remove any excess oil.
Air fryer:
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C and cook the fries until golden - times will vary depending on the machine.
