Sprouts used to be forbidden in the Brereton household... but they taste SO much better with butter & bacon!

Ingredients
20g Butter
200g Brussel Sprouts
4 Rashers of Bacon, cut into strips
2 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped
Optional: 1/4 tsp Kashmiri Chilli
Optional: 20g Flaked Almonds
Directions
Trim any outer leaves that are needed to be removed and place in a large pan of boiling, salted water. Bring the pan back to the boil, reduce the heat and allow to cook over a gentle heat for 5 minutes. Drain the water.
If you are using the sprouts straight away, leave them in a colander. if you are finishing the dish off at a later point, plunge the sprouts into a pan of cold water to prevent them from over-cooking.
In a large frying pan, melt the butter over a medium heat. Add the garlic and bacon and fry for 8-10 minutes.
Add the sprouts to the pan and combine with the bacon & garlic. if you're adding the chilli & almonds, add these in now.
If you are heating the sprouts from cold, cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat and allow to heat fully - this takes around 5 minutes.
